Your jewelry, and particularly gold, should not be worn in chlorinated pools or hot tubs, or placed in contact with bleach or harsh cleaning products. Your jewelry should be put on last when you are getting dressed (after you have applied perfume, make-up, creams or hair styling products, all of which will dull your gemstones) and the first thing you take off when undressing (the best way to avoid snagging your favorite sweater).
Tarnish can be prevented by storing your jewelry away from moisture (not in the bathroom!) and in a sealed zip lock bag. Storing your gemstones away from direct sunlight will keep them brilliant. If your jewelry needs polishing, we recommend Merit silver polish (sold at Restoration Hardware, and used by Tiffany), or Sunshine polishing cloths for removing tarnish on silver or gold. We also sell Sunshine polishing cloths and Sunspray organic jewelry cleaner to keep your gems sparkling clean.
